Undocumented immigrants in California talk about their first encounters with dehumanization or discrimination and how they have experienced it in their daily lives. Satirically using the metaphor of the “Chupacabras” as a threatening and dangerous depiction of undocumented immigrants coming into the U.S., we want to expose the “good/bad” immigrant binary and shed light on the often forgotten stories of people left out of the immigrant right’s agenda and often the main targets of punitive legal measures. // Inmigrantes indocumentadxs en California hablan sobre sus primeros encuentros con la deshumanización o discriminación, y como la han vivido en sus vidas cotidianas. Usando satíricamente la metáfora del “chupacabras” como una representación amenazante y peligrosa de lxs inmigrantes indocumentadxs que vienen a Estados Unidos, queremos desenmascarar el binario “bueno/malo” del inmigrante y arrojar luz sobre las frecuentemente olvidadas historias de aquellas personas que son excluidas de la agenda de los derechos migratorios, lxs cuales usualmente son el objetivo principal de las acciones legales punitivas.
